MYS 2024

I ‘m at the Monaco Yacht Show, strolling through the impressive stands full of luxurious yachts and exclusive design innovations, when I come across a particularly fascinating piece: the “Jeanne” bed. Curious about the story behind it, I’m delighted to meet the two creative minds behind this extraordinary work, Tiery Janet and Dominique Roitel, in person.
The “Jeanne” bed is far more than just a piece of furniture—it’s a masterpiece that combines traditional craftsmanship and modern design in a striking symbiosis. Tiery Janet, a self-taught artisan inspired by the music and fashion scenes, tells me with shining eyes about the creation of this bed. It’s named after Jeanne Barret, the first woman to circumnavigate the world in the 18th century, and symbolizes the spirit of adventure, freedom, and the joy of discovery. This profound inspiration immediately captivates me.
Dominique Roitel, president of the long-established carpentry shop Henryot & Cie, complements Tiery’s remarks and emphasizes the craftsmanship that went into this bed. Henryot’s craftsmanship, cultivated in the Vosges Mountains for over 150 years, is expressed in every detail of the bed: fine wood, grained leather, and delicate brass ornaments combine to create a unique piece. Particularly impressive are the invisible compartments and folding elements, which lend the bed additional functionality – ideal for exclusive use on yachts or in luxury hotels.
During our conversation, it becomes clear to me that the “Jeanne” bed not only offers luxurious comfort, but also tells a story. It invites you to dream, just like the journeys Jeanne Barret once took. This combination of tradition, innovation, and a touch of adventure fascinates me deeply.
The Monaco Yacht Show is known for its luxury products, but the “Jeanne” bed stands out. It embodies not only French savoir-faire but also the courage to push boundaries and explore new paths. This interview with Tiery Janet and Dominique Roitel showed me how powerful creativity can be when different worlds collide—and how true art emerges from this.

Maserati on land and water – An exclusive interview perspective
At the 2024 Yacht Show, I had the opportunity to speak with a Maserati representative about a unique concept that excites both luxury car lovers and nautical enthusiasts: the combination of Maserati’s fine vehicles with luxurious power tenders. In an exclusive interview, the Maserati representative explains the philosophy behind this extraordinary combination and the importance of sustainability.
Interviewer: Maserati is known for its luxury cars, and now you also offer tenders. What is the advantage for your customers of offering both together?
Maserati representative: The idea behind this concept is to showcase the art of Italian luxury both on the road and on the water. With the Grand Cabriolet and the all-electric Power Tender, we have created a symbiosis aimed at an exclusive clientele. This combination offers our customers a seamless travel experience—from land to water, always with Maserati. Our goal is to convey a unique sense of luxury that connects both worlds.
Interviewer: You mentioned that you consider the Grand Cabriolet and the Power Tender “twins.” What do you mean by that?
Maserati representative: Exactly, we consider them a kind of “twins.” Both products are closely related in design and performance. The Grand Cabriolet embodies elegance and performance on the road, while the Power Tender represents the same values on the water. Capable of exceeding 40 knots, the Tender offers impressive performance that perfectly fits the Maserati philosophy. Both are fully electric, underscoring our commitment to sustainability.
Interviewer: How important is sustainability for Maserati, especially in view of this year’s Yacht Show?
Maserati representative: Sustainability is a central theme for us and also for the 2024 Yacht Show. We deliberately designed the Power Tender to be fully electric because we believe this is the way of the future. But it’s not just about the propulsion system. We also place great importance on environmentally friendly solutions in the materials we use and in listening to customer feedback. Investing in the electric future is a conscious decision—for us and for the world.
Interviewer: Can your tenders only be used at sea, or are they also suitable for smaller bodies of water, such as Lake Zurich or Lake Constance?
Maserati Representative: Our Power Tenders are highly versatile. They’re not just suitable for the oceans, but also perfect for smaller lakes and lagoons, such as Lake Zurich or Lake Constance. The tender offers comfort and flexibility in tighter waters. Customers can easily dock it at small marinas and use it in a wide variety of environments. Its maneuverability and speed make it ideal for these types of waters.
Interviewer: What makes the experience of owning a Maserati Tender so special, especially for someone who already owns a Maserati on the road?
Maserati representative: It’s about a consistent feeling of luxury. Imagine driving your Maserati Grand Cabriolet to the coast, parking in style, and then transferring directly to the tender to continue your journey on the water. It’s an incomparable feeling of freedom and luxury. Moreover, both the car and tender offer the same impressive performance, making the experience all the more intense. For people who want to enjoy the best of both worlds, this is the perfect solution.
Interviewer: Finally, what would you recommend to a customer in Switzerland who wants to buy both the Grand Cabriolet and the Power Tender?
Maserati representative: I would say it’s the perfect choice, especially for lakes like Lake Zurich or Lake Constance. Both products offer excellent performance, and the tender is ideal for exclusive locations like these lakes. The driving experience on the water is unparalleled, offering the flexibility to move quickly and elegantly. It’s an investment in a lifestyle that moves seamlessly between land and water—always in luxury.
Interviewer: Thank you for the exciting interview!

Maserati Representative: Thank you! It was a pleasure.

Exclusive interview with Dennis Frederiken, Sales Broker at Fraser Yachts, about the Queen Mavia
I had the opportunity to conduct a special interview with Dennis Frederiken, an experienced sales broker at Fraser Yachts, to discuss the remarkable Queen Mavia. The original plan was to speak with the owner of this luxurious vessel, but Frederiken’s insights offered an equally fascinating perspective.
A symbol of design and technology
The Queen Mavia, one of the most impressive yachts in the Fraser fleet, is distinguished not only by its luxurious features but also by its technical sophistication. Built by the renowned Dutch shipyard Oceanco in 2001 and extensively refitted in 2020, the yacht is particularly popular with clients who value not only ultimate comfort but also unique performance and maneuverability. “The Queen Mavia is not just a symbol of luxury; it is a masterpiece of engineering,” emphasized Frederiken. “She combines cutting-edge technologies with an elegant, timeless design.”
Frederiken explained that the Queen Mavia’s interior has been completely redesigned, despite being 23 years old. Renowned interior designer Evan Marshall was responsible for the redesign. The interior features an elegant blend of high-quality design and luxurious materials, particularly Lalique elements, which can be found throughout the yacht—from lamps costing up to €10,000 to tables valued at nearly €300,000.
The focus on exclusive materials like onyx in the bathrooms and the meticulous design selection demonstrate the clear commitment to creating something unique. Frederiken enthusiastically describes the yacht’s attention to detail and meticulous restoration. The deck, which has been extended by 6 meters, offers more space for outdoor relaxation, including a beach club that immerses guests in a luxurious atmosphere.
A technical marvel – with a small crew
One of the most surprising revelations during the interview came from the captain himself, who gave us a brief insight into the operational aspects of the yacht. Despite the size and grandeur of the Queen Mavia, she requires only a crew of five to navigate safely. This highlights the advanced automation and control systems on board, which maximize efficiency and minimize personnel requirements.
The market for luxury yachts
Interestingly, the yacht has been for sale for six months, which Frederiken attributes to the owner possibly being looking for a new challenge. However, he emphasizes that the yacht is suitable for anyone with the necessary budget. During our conversation, Frederiken made it clear that the market for luxury yachts like the Queen Mavia continues to boom. “Our customers are looking for something unique – not only in terms of design, but also in terms of performance and sustainability,” he explained. In this context, environmentally friendly technologies are becoming increasingly important. The Queen Mavia also excels in this area, equipped with state-of-the-art engines and sustainable technologies that significantly reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
Trends in yacht design were also discussed, noting that the issue of internal volume is now crucial, as it influences the layout and use of the yacht. New developments such as large beach clubs and tender garages are prominent.
The Queen Mavia represents a perfect interplay of traditional yacht building and modern luxury, making it an impressive highlight at the Monaco Yacht Show.
